High-quality music with major performers from the world of jazz
A veritable Estival Village will be set up allowing the public and music lovers to enjoy a wide array of remarkable performances.
Estival’s early evening programme starts on Thursday 7 July with Avishai Cohen’s highly anticipated concert, followed by Lisa Simone’s beguiling performance and lastly, the latest musical phenomenon, Nik West.
Inaugurating the late evening programme on Friday 8 July, Noa is back in town; she is an outstanding artist who Estival fans will recall from her triumphal Mendrisio performance in 2001. In Lugano, the Israeli singer will be accompanied by the prestigious Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana (OSI). The following performance is by Tony Hadley, the leader of the legendary Spandau Ballet. Completing the late evening slot, we have a high-class newcomer: for the first time, Julian Marley, the son of fabulous reggae singer, Bob Marley, will be performing at Estival.
Performing on the third and last evening, Saturday 9 July, will be the most important vocal band of the last 30 years: Take 6. The second concert will feature an explosive quartet featuring Mike Stern, Bill Evans, Dennis Chambers and Darryl Jones. To round off the event, Estival will be saying goodbye to its public for this year with a concert which is bound to be both passionate and stylish. The singer will be none other than Momrelle who has been dubbed the “new Stevie wonder”.
