Spring in Lugano with Pamela Pintus
Finally we are in the beautiful month of April when spring starts, flowers paint this wonderful town right next to the lake and Lugano reanimates even more.
Last weekend my closest friend Alessandra came visiting me from Milan. She loves art and good food as much as I do so I took her for a walk in the city centre. Walking around Via Nassa surrounded by wonderful boutique, we stopped at “Grand Café al Porto” to have a cappuccino with something sweet to eat. (You really can’t resist their pastry shop with sweets that looks like bonbonnière in a beautiful location… and they’re also partner with “Locali Storici d’Italia”).
After the delicious cappuccino and pastries we went visiting Santa Maria degli Angeli’s church to admire Bernardino Luini’s fresco called “Passione e croficissione di Gesù”, which is the most famous Renaissance’s fresco of Switzerland.
Continuing with our walk we went to LAC, the new cultural centre dedicate to visual arts, music and performing arts and one of the most important cultural place of the italian part of Switzerland. We also saw Meret Oppenheim’s magnificent exhibition. She’s one of the most famous swiss artist with german origins from the twentieth century and she is considered the muse of surrealism movement.
We really enjoyed our afternoon absorbed in art and Lugano’s history.
In the evening we went for dinner at “La Cucina di Alice” restaurant that is located lakefront and is simply beautiful and the food exceptional. The ambience is chic but at the same time very easy. I really love that place and I wanted to share it with Alessandra, but of course I had to make a reservation otherwise it’s almost impossible to find a table.
After dinner we went to Seven Disco where some of my friends were waiting for us. We had a really nice night drinking champagne and dancing together.
It was definitely an amazing day and my friend will come back visiting me in May!
During that time there will also be Auto Nassa, where Lugano will present all the latest news of the automotive industry and the town will turn into a big outdoor car’s exposition. This means that Alessandra and I will have a lot of fun walking around the streets enjoying spring to its fullest… I can’t wait!
