Pretty Woman – The Musical
Saruday & Sunday, 26 & 27 November 2022
Written by Garry Marshall and Jonathan F. Lawton, the film’s legendary director and its original screenwriter, Pretty Woman - The Musical features a soundtrack that combines pop and romantic songs by two outstanding composers, Bryan Adams and his trusted co-writer Jim Vallance, as well as Roy Orbison's classic hit Oh, Pretty Woman.
The stage adaptation keeps the same narrative structure as the hit film and faithfully retraces the love story between Vivian and Edward: a hymn to freedom that flouts prejudices and convention in a story that transcends social class and age.
The protagonist is the music itself performed live by a six member band, in the same pop/rock style of Bryan Adams, the composer of the soundtrack. The music is typical of the sounds of the late 80s and early 90s, as are the performance’s sets. The various feelings expressed onstage are accompanied by different kinds of music, romantic scenes by slow songs, more heated and exciting moments by intense and rhythmic pieces. The musical features the original score by Bryan Adams with no changes or alterations in this entirely Italian production that keeps the connection alive between the music and the author’s distinctive style.
